Blog Hop Graphic APR17

Welcome to A Year of Card Techniques Blog Hop where each month we’ll feature a different card technique. We’ve assembled a team of fabulous card makers who range from new to advanced, so you’ll see a wide variety of cards and ideas.

The month of April features a Showdown! A stamp set showdown, that is. We’re using one stamp set in various ways. Let’s face it, stamp sets are getting more and more expensive; so we’re here to inspire you by demonstrating how to s-t-r-e-t-c-h those stamps!

If you would like to check out our past technique hops, you can do that here:

We have an amazing sponsor this month, Wilma Payne of Fun Stamper's Journey:

This challenge gave me a run for my money.  I had such a difficult time choosing a stamp set I wanted to use.  I finally decided on this one by Stampin’ Up called “Tea Shoppe”.

Tea Shoppe Stampin Up Set

I also wanted to mention that, aside from my card bases and the stamped pieces, I have used digital papers that I printed myself on white cardstock for ALL of my cards today.  These papers are from various free sites on the internet.   There are tons of designers who create digital papers and offer them for free so I encourage you to give this a try sometime.  Now onto my projects…

CupOfThanks_onecraftymrs

Card #1 is fairly simple.  I used my Cameo to cut out a paper doily, a pink circle, a white circle, and a tall flag.  I stamp one tea cup in the centre of the white circle with Tim Holtz Tattered Rose distress ink and adhered it to the larger pink circle.  I then popped that up on top of the blue scalloped doily.  I cut a piece of white cardstock, adhered the tall flag to one side and stamp the bottom with the sentiment “A Cup Of Thanks” from the stamp set.  I adhered the pre-assembled tea cup to the card front.  Then I adhered the white cardstock to a pink cardstock mat and adhered that to the card base to finish it off.

Card #2 is made up of a bunch of different sized rectangular card pieces cut from various printed papers.  On a white piece of cardstock, I stamped each tea cup in a different color of Tim Holtz Distress inks – Squeezed Lemon, Evergreen Bough, and Tattered Rose – tilting them slightly as I stacked them up.  I added the “Just For You” sentiment from the set to the card to finish it of.

Card #3 uses the “Tea For Two” sentiment from the set which I stamped in the middle of an off-white piece of cardstock and adhered to a teal green mat.  I printed and cut a long rectangular piece of rose designer cardstock and adhered that to a darker rose mat. Then I adhered everything to a piece of printed designer cardstock that I applied to the front of a card base. I added a few blue pearl beads to finish it off.

Card #4 was a little trickier than the rest because I had to try and line the stamps up so they were spaced evenly.  I messed up a little but I did my best.  I cut 3 strips of white cardstock and stamped two tea cups to each piece in Tattered Rose, Squeezed Lemon, and Evergreen Bough distress ink by Tim Holtz.  I stamped the “You Suit Me To A Tea” sentiment from the set in between the two cups on each piece of stamped cardstock. I adhered the 3 pieces to a square piece of printed pink cardstock and applied that to a piece of printed designer cardstock along with a black grosgrain ribbon with white stitching.  I attached all of that to a card base to finish it off.

FriendshipVocab_onecraftymrsCard #5 was my most detailed card.  I cut each piece with my Cameo.  I adhered the largest piece of teal printed cardstock to the front of my card base and then adhered the coral piece to the front of that.  The border across the middle has a piece of cream ribbon threaded through it. I adhered the border to a dark burgundy piece of printed cardstock and adhered that onto the square coral piece.  I stamped the “Stay” sentiment from the set onto the flag with an arched top and added the small flower from the set above the sentiment.  I used Tim Holtz Tattered Rose distress ink and sponged around the edges of the flag.  I used some pop dots and adhered it to the middle of the card.  I added some off-white pearls to the front of the card to finish it off.

That’s it for me.  I hope you enjoyed what I shared with you today.  Now you’re off to visit with the amazing and talented Claudia. Hope you had fun and thanks for stopping by. Don’t forget to leave a comment on each blog in the hop to increase your chances of winning!

See you next month with another great technique!

I Heart You Mom

Hi there Crafty Friends,

I’m back this week with a Mother’s Day card using a fun image from Sunsational Stamp’s “Hoppy Set”.  This stamp set is new and you can find it in the Sunsational Stamps Store.

I Heart Mom-Apr 17-ocm_SS1

With the help of my Silhouette Cameo and some digital papers, I set to work making this sweet card.  The first thing I do when I create any card is to design it in my Silhouette Cameo software.  This allows me to visualize what my end product will be and helps me to keep things organized when it comes time to put the card together.  Here is a peek at what a typical design would look like when I set it up in my Cameo software.

Silhouette Screen-Apr 17-ocm_SS

I have each piece laid out on my virtual mat with the digital papers chosen (the two pieces off to the right-side will need to be printed and cut on a second piece of paper).  I also have a template off to the left hand side of what I want the card to look like once it’s assembled. Once I am happy with the design, I will print it off and then send it to my Silhouette Cameo to cut each piece.

I used a couple of my Copic markers to color the bunny and the hearts. I brushed the edges of the bunny circle with a sponge brush and some Stampin’ Up Cameo Coral ink. I also brushed the edges of the sentiment with some Close To My Heart Sea Breeze ink.

I hope you have enjoyed my card today.  I’ll be back in two weeks to share another fabulous Sunsational Stamp card.  In the meantime, don't forget to check out all the other photo-polymer and digi stamps in the Sunsational Stamps Store.

It’s A Ducky Life

Hi there crafty friends,

I’m so excited to be chosen as part of Sunsational Stamps new Design Team and today I’m sharing my first project with you using Lisa’s darling digital stamp “Spring Is Ducky” which can be found in her newly designed store.  Just click on this link to go there.

When I saw this cute little ducky upside down in the water I thought it would make a great encouragement card and just knew that I had to use him.  Below is a picture of the outside and inside of the card.

Inside Of Card:

I always have trouble trying to figure out what papers to use for my card so with this card I decided to take a look online to see if I could find anything and I came across this cute blog, LianaScrap.com and found some really nice papers. The papers I decided to use are from the Day Dream Set.  She has lots of other cute sets so click on the link to go visit her and check them out for yourself.

I printed the image onto some white Strathmore Bristol Smooth paper and used my Copic markers to color it.   I have a mish-mash of markers but today I decided to use my Copics.  I punched it out with my Fiskars circular punch and set it aside.  I used my Silhouette Cameo to cut out my digital paper and the scalloped image that mats the punched image.  I also typed my sentiments (outside and inside), printed them, and cut them out.  Then I layered them onto some black cardstock.  I found a graphic of a pond online and printed it.  Then I cut around it and made a small slit in the water.  I printed, colored and cut out another ducky from the set. I slid the ducky’s feet through the slit in the water so that it looked like it was swimming on the water.  I adhered the feet to the back with some tape to hold it in place.  Once I had all my pieces completed and set aside, it was time to start putting everything together.

I took an 8.5x11-inch piece of white cardstock and cut it down the middle of the 8.5-inch side leaving me with two 4.25x11-inch pieces of cardstock.  I scored the long edge of one of them along the 5.5-inch mark and folded it in half.  This left me with a card base that was 4.25x5.5-inches.  I adhered my 2 pieces of designer paper onto the card base so that they each covered half of the base.  Then I layered a couple of rectangular pieces across the middle to hide the seam.  I wrapped a piece of black ribbon around the rectangular pieces before adhering them to the cardstock.  I mounted my punched image on top of the scalloped circle and adhered that to the front of the card along with the sentiment.  The front of the card was complete and now it was time to move onto the inside.

I cut a couple more rectangles out of the designer cardstock and adhered them across the bottom portion of the card.  I adhered the pond on top and added my sentiment and the card was finished!

Thanks for taking the time to drop by.  I hope you enjoyed my project and I’ll see you soon with another Design Team share.  The supplies I used are listed below:

I decided to use one of my newer stamp sets by My Favorite Things.  The name of this set (Adorable Elephants) is very appropriate.  I love these cute little guys.

Adorable Elephants Sample

I love me some shaker cards when I’m feeling down so I created this one for a friend of mine who is laid up in the hospital after having surgery this past week.  Since the sentiments in this set are geared more towards a ‘birthday’ or ‘thinking of you’ type card, I created my own sentiment instead.  I sure hope she likes it.

I’m the last participant in this hop so if you have made it this far, well done!
